Why did a Kansas City television company send a cease and desist nastygram to the media reform advocacy group
Free Press?
The July 12, 2011 edition of Tell Somebody featured a conversation with Josh Stearns, Program Director with Free Press and Save The News. Stearns talked about the public interest victory in the
Prometheus v FCC case, and went on to talk about covert media consolidation, a sneaky way around FCC's ownership rules where stations outsource their news programming. Stearns talks about a major player in this practice,
Newport Television, a company headquartered in Kansas City, MO.
The show starts with an
action alert from Col. Ann Wright aboard the Audacity of Hope in Greece, and the second half of the show has a re-airing of a conversation with Free Press President and CEO Craig Aaron recorded last April in Boston.
